      <image:caption>This "water jet" is Geneva's most iconic landmark. Such jets were used in heavy industrial times when nearby factories used them as a valve for equalizing pressure, etc. The water stream goes as high as 140 meters (460 feet) and leaves the valve at around 200 km/h (124 mph). It can be even seen from a taking off airplane at Geneva airport! Curious tourists can walk on the slippery stone path to the jet. When lake wind direction changes they also get as wet as a fish. Protective clothing and steady shoes highly recommended! Bring along your swim goggles too...</image:caption>

If you want to see, smell and taste some genuine Tbilisi culture then take the Tbilisi metro and disembark at Didube metro station. The Didube markets (and the adjacent minibus station) are just across the street. While minibus drivers are standing in the middle of the crowd yelling out their destinations like "Gori! Gori" or "Batumi!" and waiting for their passengers locals are selling fruit and vegetables, kitchen accessories and old music CDs, water, wine and churchela (the Georgian Snickers)... And just a few meters away there is a loud and dusty construction site: a new road is being built... Tbilisi. You have to feel it.</image:caption>

Don't miss the Afrykarium in the zoo but get prepared for some serious waiting (the waiting line goes literally around the huge building!)</image:caption>

The "nearest" town, Karaganda, is around 4-5 hours drive from Astana. Thanks to excellent mobile phone roaming networks (LTE/4G) throughout Astana, it is possible to transfer images and stream videos quickly. However, there is low network availability outside the major cities (GPRS) or not present at all.  People from Kazakhstan are very helpful and friendly. Talking with younger people in English is generally no problem. I also got along fine in Russian. The Kazakh language was too difficult for me personally. It sounds like a mixture of Turkish, Arabic and Russian.</image:caption>

Nazarbayev is however excluded from this regulation. The cost of living is borne entirely by the state. Anyone over 40 years old, who has lived in Kazakhstan for more than 15 years and is perfectly proficient in the Kazakh language can be elected as President.</image:caption>

Before the wedding, the parents of both lovers (known as Neke Qiyu) negotiate and reach a kind of contract. Great importance is attached to documenting the wedding: several photographers follow the couple at every turn during the long ceremony: A MUST is to have several pictures/selfies of the famous buildings of Astana.</image:caption>

From its creation in 1923 to 1949, it was HOLLYWOODLAND (an advertisement for a local housing project), but was converted to HOLLYWOOD in 1949. The sign flashed and was lit at night. Several searchlights would highlight the effect at night. The lighting disappeared over time. Today the sign is dark at night. The sign itself is not accessible due to the LA communication center above it. But there are many hiking trails around and in the vicinity.</image:caption>
